University Animal Care Committee (UACC)

The UACC is responsible for all aspects of the animal research operation at the university’s three campuses. Membership on the UACC is comprised of the chairpersons of each of the individual facility Local Animal Care Committees (LACC’s), as well as administrative/technical staff, veterinarians, staff of the Department of Environmental Health and Safety, and student and community representatives.

An important function of the UACC is the development of recommendations/policies relating to animal research that, if approved by the Vice-President, Research and Innovation, are implemented across the university.

The UACC is also responsible for the final approval of all proposed research/teaching or testing studies.
