Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation

The OVPRI team is located at in room 109 of Simcoe Hall at 27 King’s College Circle in Toronto.

Strategic Initiatives

The Strategic Initiatives team within the Office of the Vice- President, Research and Innovation is a small group dedicated to supporting, advancing and promoting institutional research priorities.  This includes supporting the implementation of the University’s Strategic Research Plan,  developing and supporting international research partnerships, coordinating major institutional partnerships with other universities and the private sector, and advancing the University’s prestigious awards and honours strategy, among other things.

Research Communications

The mission of Research Communications team is to promote the University of Toronto’s research and scholarly achievements and strengths to key external audiences, including government, business and industry, prospective faculty and students and donors. The team is highly regarded for its print and electronic materials, all of which have won many major awards. These materials include Edge Magazine, the Research + Innovation website, The Research Insider e-newsletter and a series of annual reports (Excellence, Innovation, Leadership; Ideas That Could Change the World; Life in 2027) focusing on different aspects of U of T research and it examines areas affecting global society. The Research Communications teams also works with other units with the Vice President Research and Innovation division, as well with offices throughout U of T, to communicate with the university community about funding and awards achievements.

The Research Communications team is located in room 109 of Simcoe Hall at 27 King’s College Circle in Toronto.

Research Services Office (RSO)

The mission of the Research Services Office (RSO) is to facilitate faculty success in a broad range of regular, high volume domestic and international research funding programs; coordinate of the University’s participation in major, institutional strategic research competitions; collect & analyze institutional research performance data; and develop tools to assist the U of T research community in their research administration activities.

The Research Services Office is located on the 3rd floor of the McMurrich Building at 12 Queen’s Park Crescent West in Toronto.

Research Oversight and Compliance Office (ROCO)

The Research Oversight and Compliance Office (ROCO) was established to ensure financial and ethical compliance with the highest standard sponsor terms and University policies through training and outreach to build awareness, re-engineering processes to reduce exposures, reviewing and validating transactions and building an integrated foundation in risk management for the University’s research community.

The Research Oversight and Compliance Office is located on the 2nd floor of the McMurrich Building at 12 Queen’s Park Crescent West in Toronto.

Innovations & Partnerships Office (IPO)

The Innovations & Partnerships Office (IPO) is focused on building successful partnerships between industry and the U of T research community and managing U of T’s portfolio of intellectual property, turning ideas and innovations into products, services, companies and jobs.

The Innovations & Partnerships Office is located in suite 413 of the Banting Institute at 100 College Street in Toronto.
