RE:           Call for Nominations to the Committee on Equity and Diversity in Research and Innovation

Further to the recommendations of the Equity and Diversity in Research and Innovation Working Group, the Vice-President, Research and Innovation (VPRI), is establishing a standing Committee on Equity and Diversity in Research and Innovation. This Committee will advise the VPRI on matters related to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within the University of Toronto’s research and innovation enterprise.

The VPRI is currently soliciting volunteers and/or nominations to this Committee.

Members of the Committee will be appointed to initial three-year terms and will work closely with other portfolios, including the Vice-Provost, Faculty and Academic Life, and the Vice-President, Human Resources and Equity, to advance EDI across research and innovation programs and activities and to support the development of a more inclusive scholarly community.

The VPRI seeks to establish a Committee that is diverse in its membership and offers multiple perspectives and insights. The Committee will include members who represent a breadth of disciplines across the University and its affiliated institutions. In addition, we especially welcome participation on the Committee by those who identify as racialized persons/persons of colour, women, Indigenous/Aboriginal Peoples of North America, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ+ persons, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas. If you are nominating prospective members to this Committee, we ask that you consider nominees of diverse backgrounds.

For further information, please see the Terms of Reference.

We look forward to receiving nominations by October 31, 2018. Please send nominations to Andrea Gill, Research Equity and Diversity Strategist, amk.gill@utoronto.ca.  Questions may also be directed to this email address.
