Ted Sargent’s giant imagination meets the tiny frontier of nanotechnology, where he envisions connecting to the Internet through contact lenses and recharging cell phones with solar power from clothes. The Canada Research Chair in Nanotechnology, Sargent works with research subjects thatare a billionth of a metre in size – that’s 1/80,000 the width of a human hair. In 2003 Sargent was named one of the world’s top young innovators by MIT’s Technology Reviewand in 2005 was named a research leader in the Scientific American 50.
