RE:                  Connaught Programs Feedback

I am following up on my September 30, 2013 email regarding the 3-Year Review of the Connaught Programs and an invitation for your feedback.  I wish to thank those of you who have already offered comments.  For those of you who still wish to participate in the survey, we kindly ask for your responses by October 31, 2013.  The survey will take just a few moments of your time, but will be extremely valuable to the Connaught Committee as we consider future directions for the fund.  Even if you feel that you can comment on only some of the questions in the survey, we welcome any feedback. The Connaught Committee will be meeting in early December to consider feedback and make decisions regarding future Connaught Fund programming.

Thank you in advance for your participation.  I wish you continued success in your research and innovation activities.

Subject: Feedback Requested: 3-Year Review of Connaught Programs

Dear Colleagues,

As you will know, the University of Toronto is extremely fortunate to have the Connaught Fund, a designated endowment arising from the University’s 1972 sale of the Connaught Laboratories.  The fund generates approximately $3.5M annually to support research, innovation and graduate training across all disciplines, under the direction of the Connaught Committee, of which I am Chair.  Three years ago the Committee implemented a new, revised suite of programs.  A summary overview of those programs can be found here.  More detail on the Connaught Fund and its programs is available here.   We committed to a program review after three years to determine whether these programs are having the desired effect.  An important element of this review is academic administrators’ sense of program impact.

I am therefore requesting your participation in a short on-line survey (just 8 questions) that should take only a few minutes of your time but will be extremely valuable to the Connaught Committee as we consider future directions for the fund.  You can access the survey here.  Even if you feel that you can comment on only some of the questions in the survey, we welcome any feedback. We would ask that you complete the survey by 31 October 2013.  We have also written to all Faculty who have received Connaught funding over the past three years and have asked that they complete a different survey.  If you’d like a list of those whom we have contacted in your Department, please do not hesitate to be in touch with the Connaught Secretariat at connaught.secretariat@utoronto.ca .  The Committee will be meeting in early December to consider feedback and make decisions regarding future Connaught Fund programming.

Thank you in advance for your participation.  I wish you continued success in your research and innovation activities.
