Equipment Loan Agreements
Occasionally researchers may receive loans of equipment from research collaborators, sponsors or other third parties. In such instances, it is advisable that the details and conditions of the loan are encompassed in an equipment loan agreement. The agreement will spell out the responsibilities of the parties regarding shipping of the equipment, training, upkeep and maintenance and conditions for use. For prototypes or other experimental units, the agreement may also provide for confidentiality of information regarding the equipment. Issues of insurance and liability for breakage, damage or injury will also be covered.
