2018 Ho-Am Prizes
The Ho-Am Prizes are awarded each year to Koreans or individuals of Korean heritage who have contributed to academics, the arts, and social development, or who have furthered the welfare of humanity through distinguished accomplishments in their respective professional fields.
Five awards, and sometimes six, are presented in the following categories: Science, Engineering, Medicine, The Arts, Community Service, and a Special Award (this is occasionally awarded to individuals and organizations, regardless of nationality, that have made outstanding contributions to Korean or international society in the areas outside of the five Ho-Am Prize categories). The Prize in Community Service may be awarded to non-Koreans who have made an outstanding contribution to Korea and Koreans at home and abroad.
Nominations may only be received from invited nominators, and only one nomination per Award can be made. If you would like to be nominated or to make a nomination, please contact the Office of the Vice-President Research & Innovation (see contact below) to discuss next steps. In the event that more than one UofT candidate is put forward for consideration, an internal competition will be held to determine an institutional nominee for each award.
In 2015, the Ho-Am Prize in Engineering was awarded to an American researcher of Korean heritage.
