Partnership Engage Grant
Notice: Faculty members who are planning to apply for funding are encouraged to login to the My Research Application (MRA) on-line system well in advance of the submission deadline to ensure that there are no problems with your login credentials. The system utilizes your UTORid credentials. The information in the on-line form will be automatically routed to the appropriate internal approvers for review and endorsement. If you encounter problems, please consult the My Research - Application User Guide for additional information or contact the RAISE help desk (416-946-5000, RAISE@utoronto.ca).
Partnership Engage Grants provide short-term and timely support for partnered research activities that will inform decision-making at a single partner organization from the public, private or not-for-profit sector. The small-scale, stakeholder-driven partnerships supported through the Partnership Engage Grants are meant to respond to immediate needs and time constraints facing organizations in non-academic sectors. In addressing an organization-specific need, challenge and/or opportunity, these partnerships let non-academic organizations and postsecondary researchers access each other’s unique knowledge, expertise and capabilities on topics of mutual interest. They are intended to address the objectives of SSHRC’s Insight and Connection programs.
Only one Canadian or international organization from the public, private and/or non-profit sector may be involved as a partner organization. Partner organizations are expected to support the activities of the partnership through cash and/or in-kind contributions.
Further details, application form and instructions are available on the SSHRC website.
IMPORTANT: SSHRC receives the application when it is given online approval by Research Services, not the date it is submitted by the applicant. Please observe the internal deadline to ensure that all necessary approvals are in place to enable Research Services to forward the application to SSHRC by the sponsor deadline.
|Internal deadline||Sponsor deadline||Results announced||Award start date|
|March 8||March 15||end of May||1 June|
|June 8||June 15||end of August||1 September|
|September 8||September 15||end of November||1 December|
|December 8||December 15||end of February||1 March|
NOTE: Individuals may apply for only one Partnership Development Grant or Partnership Engage Grant per calendar year, and may not have more than one of these proposals under review at the same time. In addition, current Partnership Engage Grant holders may not submit a new Partnership Engage Grant application until their current grant is no longer active.
Internal deadline to receive MRA – noon, Friday, September 8, 2017:
- Approved MRA must be received by Research Services (MRA may take several days for divisional approval, please submit well in advance). The MRA should include a draft proposal, finalized budget amount, and copies of letters of support for any UofT institutional commitments.
Internal deadline to submit online application – 9am, Wednesday, September 13, 2017:
- Applicant must submit completed SSHRC application via SSHRC site.
For applications submitted on the SSHRC site by September 13, for which an MRA has been submitted as above, Research Services will give the application an administrative review, and if the application receives institutional approval, will forward it electronically to SSHRC by the sponsor deadline.
Please note: Submitting your online application means you are ready for Research Services to give it institutional approval and forward your proposal to SSHRC. Research Services will not review the content of your application but will verify your eligibility to hold a research grant at UofT, that of any UofT co-applicants, and any institutional commitments. UTRS will return applications only to those who do not meet the University’s criteria to hold a research grant. If you have questions about the Partnership Engage Grants funding opportunity, please contact Research Services well in advance of the internal deadline.
